Wall’s 2026 Football Schedule Includes Numerous Top 10 Teams

WALL, TX — The defending state champion Wall football team has locked down all but one of its games for next fall — and the schedule includes five teams that finished the regular season last year ranked in the Top 10.

The Hawks’ season begins at home Aug. 28 against Canyon West Plains, which went 12-2 last year and reached the state quarterfinals. The Wolves were No. 4 in Class 4A Division I in last year’s final rankings.

Wall is still looking for an opponent in Week 2, and it’s possible the Hawks will have to settle for a nine-game schedule that includes two open dates.

In Week 3, Wall will continue its rivalry with Jim Ned when the Hawks travel to Tuscola. Jim Ned finished last year ranked No. 5 in Class 3A Division I. The Indians went 11-2 and reached the regional semifinals.

In Week 4, Wall will host Ozona, which finished last year ranked No .6 in Class 2A Division I. The Lions went 10-1 after a first-round playoff loss. They graduated superstar running back Christian Villarreal, who rushed for 3,667 yards.

In Week 5, Wall will host Midland Greenwood, which is also playing San Angelo Central. The Rangers were ranked No. 4 in Class 4A Division II last season. They went 13-1 and reached the state quarterfinals.

In Week 6, Wall will travel to play private school state power Midland Christian, which went 8-4 last season.

In Week 7, Wall begins play in its new district, 3-3A Division I. The Hawks travel to play Llano, which was No. 4 in Class 3A Division I last year. The Yellowjackets went 13-2 and reached the state semifinals.

The Hawks end the season with what appears to be a less formidable schedule over the final few weeks. They host San Angelo TLCA in Week 8, and the Eagles are coming off back-to-back winless seasons.

In Week 9, Wall visits an Early team that went 5-6 last year. After a bye in Week 10, the Hawks finish the regular season at home against Ingram Moore, which went 7-6 and reached the third round of the playoffs last season in Class 3A Division I.

Wall also has scrimmages scheduled against Class 4A Division II Snyder (0-10 last season) and 3A Division I Grape Creek (7-5 last season).

Wall is coming off its first state title in program history. The Hawks went 16-0, capped by a 25-24 win over Newton in the Class 3A Division II state final. Wall was then realigned into 3A Division I, making the Hawks one of the smallest schools in the state in that classification.
