AUSTIN, TX — The No. 6-ranked Texas Longhorns added to their incredible baseball tradition late Sunday with a 6-5 win over No. 11 Oregon to advance to their 39th College Baseball World Series.
No other school has ever been more than 25 times.
Texas, which owns six national titles, is making its first trip to Omaha, Nebraska, since 2022.
Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle became one of only four coaches to guide three different schools — TCU, Texas A&M and Texas — to the College World Series.
Schlossnagle led A&M to a runner-up finish in 2024 before the Longhorns were able to convince him to leave for Austin.
Texas will play No. 3 Georgia on Friday or Saturday to begin the World Series. The other four teams who have punched their tickets are West Virginia, Ole Miss, North Carolina and Troy.
St. John’s and Alabama, along with Oklahoma and Kansas, are set to finish their Super Regional series Monday.
On Sunday, Texas trailed 5-4 heading to the eighth inning when Adrian Rodridguez delivered the game-winning two-run double. Sam Cozart sat down the final six batters to give the Longhorns (45-13) a series sweep after their 9-1 win Saturday.
After the softball team’s national title last week, the school now has a chance to become the first-ever Division I college to win both titles in the same year.
