SAN ANGELO, TX — Numerous athletes from around the Concho Valley were named recently to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Baseball Team.
Wall led the way with five selections on the Class 3A team, highlighted by third baseman Reid Ballard and outfielder Hagyn Barbee. The two seniors were both first-team selections.
Senior second baseman Jacob Braden was named to the second team, while senior pitcher Kellan Oliver and senior designated hitter Wyatt Jost were third-team selections.
Wall was ranked No. 3 in the state in Class 3A and lost in the state semifinals to eventual champion Paradise.
Coahoma freshman outfielder Aiden Rodriguez was named honorable mention on the 3A all-state team.
In Class 2A, Forsan senior designated hitter Jack Nichols was the area’s only first-team honoree.
Mason senior third baseman Ray Row was a second-team pick, while Forsan junior second baseman was tabbed to the third team.
Earning honorable mention were Christoval junior William Nye, who was selected as a pitcher and outfielder, Christoval senior first baseman Ryler Hunt, Ozona senior outfielder Christian Villarreal, and Eldorado senior shortstop Jonnie Rae Adame.
The area’s lone 1A selection was Menard junior Eli Weatherly, who was named a second-team pitcher. Weatherly has since moved to Roby.
