San Angelo State Park Releases August Event Schedule

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo State Park will host a variety of events in August, including guided hikes, stargazing activities and wildlife viewings.

Bison and longhorn viewing will be offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 a.m.

The month’s events begin Aug. 1 with “Over the Moon,” where Ranger Kennie and local astronomers will explore the night skies of San Angelo.

"Learn about the moon in all of its phases and features that can be seen," information states.

This will happen at the Red Arroyo Campground Boat Ramp from 8:45 to 10 p.m. The state park asks visitors interested to bring water, chair, blankets, a red light flashlight or headlamp if possible. 

Other activities include “Roving Ranger” at the Burkett Trailhead on Aug. 7 and Playground Parking Lot on Aug. 21, both from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

On Aug. 8, “Picture This!” will take place at the Playground Parking Lot from 9 to 10:15 a.m. A “Full Moon Hike” is scheduled for Aug. 9 at the Chaparral Pavilion from 8:45 to 10 p.m.

Additional events include “Talk of the Skies” on Aug. 22 at the Chaparral Pavilion from 9 to 10 a.m., a “Star Party” on Aug. 23 at the Red Arroyo Campground Boat Ramp from 9 to 10:30 p.m., and a “Women’s Hike (Sunset)” on Aug. 24 at the Highland Range Overlook from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.

Entrance fee for the park:
$4 for adults 13 & up.
Free for children 12 & under.
Free for Texas State Park Pass holders
