Fess Parker “Fess-tival” Returns to Fort Concho on Aug. 16

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Fort Concho will host the second annual Fess Parker “Fess-tival” on Saturday, Aug. 16, celebrating the life and legacy of San Angelo native and Hollywood star Fess Parker. The event is free to attend and will be held at the fort’s Quartermaster Building, located at Burgess Street and East Avenue C.

The morning program will run from 9 a.m. to noon and includes a continental breakfast, historical displays and exhibits, period games, a 19th century weaponry firing demonstration, and a Daniel Boone/Davy Crockett lookalike contest. Prizes will be awarded in adult (18 and older) and youth (17 and younger) divisions. Contest rules and guidelines are available at fortconcho.com.

The evening program, scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., will feature refreshments, a trivia quiz, and a screening of the movie "The Great Locomotive Chase" starring Parker. The night will conclude with a group singalong of “The Ballad of Davy Crockett.”
