Two Hospitalized After Crash; Jaws of Life Used to Extricate Driver

SAN ANGELO, TX — Two people were hospitalized Friday following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and West 23rd Street, according to San Angelo Police.

This happened at about noon when the driver of a Nissan Frontier pickup, traveling east on West 23rd, failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign and entered the intersection. The truck struck a northbound Hyundai passenger car on Martin Luther King Drive, the police said.

The driver of the Nissan, who told officers he was new to town, believed the intersection was a four-way stop. He was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Both occupants of the Hyundai were transported to Shannon Medical Center. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

San Angelo Fire Department crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of the Hyundai, police confirmed.

The two occupants of the Nissan were evaluated at the scene and released.
