Back-to-School Bash Aids Students

SAN ANGELO, TX — Reagan Elementary School students are kicking off the school year Tuesday evening with a community celebration and shoe giveaway at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Thanks to donations from Buckner International’s Shoes for Orphan Souls program, approximately 357 students will receive new shoes. The shoes, collected by South Main Baptist Church in Houston in July and delivered by Texas Baptists’ Go Now Mission, will be distributed alongside other school supplies provided by local organizations, including Rust Street Ministries.

The event will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the church today, located at 90 E. 14th St. Volunteers from Baptist Temple Community and other community partners are assisting with the event.

Additional shoe donations from Calvary Baptist Church will be given to students at Bradford and Goliad elementary schools from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at each campus.

School officials said the donations help ensure more students start the year prepared and confident.
