OZONA, TX — Ozona running back Christian Villarreal had another incredible performance Friday with more than 500 yards of offense in the Lions’ 76-29 win over Eldorado.
Villarreal had 17 carries for 373 rushing yards and four touchdowns, along with four catches for 134 yards, which included a 99-yard TD catch.
All told, he turned those 21 touches into 507 yards and five TDs.
This follows Villarreal’s 371-yard, seven-TD performance last week against McCamey.
Two weeks into the season, Ozona’s star running back has piled up 744 rushing yards and 11 TDs.
With all five starting offensive linemen returning in front of him, hopes were high for what the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Villarreal could accomplish this season, but he has delivered beyond all expectations.
Villarreal and Ozona will get a big test next week when they travel to play Class 3A Division II Brady, which is also off to a 2-0 start after Friday’s 24-22 win over Mason.
