Trooper Identified in Fatal San Jacinto County Crash

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, TX — Texas Department of Public Safety officials have identified the trooper killed in a fiery crash Monday night as Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr., 44.

According to DPS, Adamick was responding to a disturbance call just before 9 p.m. when he misjudged a curve on FM 945 near FM 2025, left the roadway, and struck a pine tree. The patrol unit caught fire, and Adamick was unable to escape.

San Jacinto County dispatchers received the crash report shortly before 9 p.m. DPS said when the first responding unit arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Sgt. Gary Wright, supervisor for the DPS San Jacinto County office, said investigators remained on scene for several hours. It was reported that the wreck happened about 10 feet from where another recent fatal crash occurred. Wright described Adamick as “a good man and a solid worker,” adding that his death is deeply felt by fellow troopers and the community.

Adamick, a resident of the New Waverly area, had recently marked his first year with DPS. Before joining the agency, he served 21 years in the U.S. Army with multiple overseas tours. Congressman Morgan Luttrell said Adamick “was an Army veteran who protected our loved ones here at home,” and urged the public to keep his family in their prayers.

Family members told KBTX-TV’s Rusty Surette that Adamick considered being a trooper his dream job. He leaves behind his wife and adult children.

Funeral services are being arranged through a Huntsville funeral home, according to DPS.
