SAN ANGELO, TX — Above-normal heat will persist across San Angelo and much of West Texas through the weekend, with highs in the mid-90s expected before cooler temperatures arrive by midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said San Angelo could reach 97 degrees on Monday, one of the hottest days in the outlook. Rain chances remain low through early next week, ranging from 5 to 35 percent, before slightly higher odds of showers develop Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The weather service said the first noticeable relief will come Wednesday, when highs are expected to fall into the mid-80s. By Thursday and Friday, afternoon temperatures are forecast near 86 to 89 degrees.
Meteorologists asked residents to follow heat safety precautions through the weekend and remain alert for scattered thunderstorms beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing intermittently through the end of the week.
