Voucher Sale for Pet Spay/Neuter Services Set for Oct. 4

SAN ANGELO, TX — Critter Shack Rescue will host a low-cost spay and neuter voucher sale Saturday, Oct. 4, at PetSmart, 4439 Sunset Drive. The sale begins at 9:30 a.m. and is limited to one voucher per family. An adoption event will follow.

The new voucher prices are $50 for cats and $70 to $100 for dogs, depending on size and gender. Female dogs range from $80 to $100, while male dogs range from $70 to $80.

The vouchers cover spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, and pain medication. The program is funded and managed by Critter Shack Rescue and Cassie’s Place Rescue in partnership with several local veterinary clinics, including Los Caballos Veterinary Clinic, Prickly Pear Veterinary Hospital, Southside Animal Hospital, San Angelo Veterinary Hospital, and River Oaks Veterinary Clinic.

Organizers said the program has provided over 7,000 low-cost surgeries since it began. Each voucher purchase includes an additional $50 subsidy paid by the rescues to veterinarians. With 240 to 300 vouchers sold monthly, the program depends on fundraising and donations to cover costs.

Due to demand, organizers have reaffirmed the one-voucher-per-household-per-month policy.
