COLEMAN COUNTY, TX — A 4-year-old boy was ejected and killed when a car overturned in rainy conditions Friday evening on U.S. Highway 84 near County Road 464, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened around 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 24. Troopers stated that a 2024 Nissan Versa driven by 27-year-old Michelle Warden Callisto of Burnet was heading south at an unsafe speed for the wet roadway when it veered off the highway, overturned, and came to rest upright.

Callisto suffered minor injuries, and her 3-year-old son was also hurt. Both were reportedly secured in their seats. The 4-year-old, who was also in a child safety seat, was ejected during the crash and died at the scene, DPS stated.

The posted speed limit in the area is 75 miles per hour.

The crash remains under investigation.
