WALL, TX — The No. 7-ranked Wall Lady Hawks have an opportunity to bring home the program’s first regional title next week.
They’ll have to get past No. 1 Holliday to make it happen.
Wall and Holliday will clash at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Stephenville for the right to advance to the Class 3A Division II state semifinals.
Wall hasn’t dropped a set since the playoffs began, sweeping through its first three matches over Henrietta, Tolar and Idalou to reach this point.
Holliday dropped a set in wins over Early and Comfort before sweeping Odessa Compass Academy on Saturday.
Wall is one of four area schools still alive in the playoffs, along with Sterling City, Veribest and Water Valley.
Sterling City will play No. 6 Windthorst in the Class 2A Division II regional finals at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Abilene Christian University.
The Lady Eagles survived a thrilling five-set win over Archer City on Thursday.
Veribest and Water Valley are each one win away from meeting in an all-Tom Green County regional final in the Class 1A bracket.
Veribest swept Benjamin on Saturday, while Water Valley earned a four-set win over Knox City.
Veribest will now face No. 9 Klondike at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Colorado City. Water Valley will play Buena Vista at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Rankin.
Class 1A has an extra round compared to the other classifications since it’s not split into two divisions.
The UIL state championships will be played Nov. 20-22 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.
