Red Flag Warning Issued for Veterans Day Across West Central Texas

SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of West Central Texas through Tuesday afternoon, as warm temperatures, dry air, and gusty winds create critical fire weather conditions.

Forecasters say south to southwest winds will range from 15 to 25 mph with gusts over 35 mph, while humidity levels drop to between 15% and 20%. Highs are expected to reach the mid-70s across much of the region, including 74° in San Angelo, 77° in Abilene, and 78° in Ozona.

Officials warn that any fires that start could spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Residents are asked to avoid outdoor burning, keep vehicles off dry grass, and ensure tow chains are not dragging.

Tonight’s forecast calls for clear skies and a low near 46°. Conditions will remain dry through the week, with highs climbing into the 80s by Wednesday and Thursday.
