Ashley Henry, age 35, passed Thursday, January 2, 2014. Family visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at Johnson's Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A second visitation will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin, Texas from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, January 6, 2014 at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, Texas at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Cemetery in Spicewood, Texas. 

She is survived by husband Jimmy Henry and sons Cade, Wyatt and Trey. She is also survived by her parents Steve B. and Kathy Johnson of Austin, Texas, brother Matt Johnson and wife Peggy of Austin, Texas, sister Tracey Sparkman of Round Rock, Texas, grandfather Gilbert Johnson of Austin, Texas, grandparents Jerry and Betty Reinke of Granite Shoals, Texas, parents in-law Tommie and Nell Henry of Hermleigh, Texas, and sister in-law Mande Reeves and husband Greg of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by 3 nieces, 4 nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandmother Leona Fay Johnson and grandfather Jim Talbot. 

Ashley was born in Huntsville, Texas on October 5, 1978. She grew up in Oak Hill and attended Boone Elementary, CovingtonMiddle School and Bowie High School. She graduated from Angelo State University in 2001. She was a teacher at Glenn Middle School at San Angelo ISD, Lampasas ISD and Elgin ISD. In 2008 she quit teaching to become a full time mother to her three boys and spent time attending the boy's baseball, football and basketball games.She was a beautiful, gentle person and loved being a homemaker and mom and enjoyed scrap booking. Ashley fought a hard battle with breast cancer for the last three years. The family would like to thank many of the friends and family who offered prayers to help her in fighting this dreadful disease and made contributions to help fight breast cancer. 

Pallbearers are Chad Gilley, Ryan Gilley, Brandon Gilley, Kody Johnson, Brodie Sparkman, Jonathan Spears, Landon Alls, and Jay Ben Alls.

Julia Mendoza, 80, of San Angelo passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 in San Angelo. 

The Rosary will be 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 2, 2013 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 3, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Lucio R. Mendoza, of San Angelo; her 12 children, Raymundo Mendoza, Juan Antonio Mendoza, Francisco, Mendoza, Esteban Mendoza, Cesar Mendoza, Juan Martin Mendoza, Efrain Mendoza, Lucio Gerardo Mendoza, Maria De La Luz Perez,Irma Ledesma, Idalia Mendoza and Eva Trevino; and one sister, Dolores Garcia Garcia, of San Angelo.

Flury Alvin

Alvin Flury, 93, passed away on January 1, 2014 in a local care center.
He was born in Austin, TX. in 1920 and attended school there until joining the Navy just after Pearl Harbor. He served in the South Pacific until 1945. He received a BA degree in biology from UT Austin in 1948 and a Masters in zoology in 1951. He was employed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as an aquatic biologist in South Texas from 1951 to 1965. He taught at ASU in San Angelo from 1965-1979 and received his doctorate from Texas Tech in 1972. He retired in 1979 to enjoy gardening and fishing. He was active in both San Angelo bass clubs and, at age 80, caught a 45 lb catfish on a trotline and brought it to shore with his kayak.
Alvin was preceded in death by Florence Mae, his wife of sixty years. He is survived by daughters Barbara and husband Bill; Carol; son John and wife Terri; daughter Connie and husband Kenny; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:30 PM, January 3rd in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Graveside service will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Meadow Creek Nursing Center for their father's care the last 5 years and to Odyssey Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals for the Elderly or a charity of your choice.

Consuelo Salas, 88, of San Angelo, passed away on Dec. 31, 2013.
A Rosary was held (Thurs) yesterday at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Fr. Patrick Akpanobong officiating. Mrs. Salas will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Arnoldo Gutierrez Family and Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. 
Survivors include one son, Jesus Gavia of Del Rio, Texas and two daughters, Delia Hernandez and Angelica Reyes both of San Angelo, Texas.
