San Angelo Sees Rise in Unemployment Rate

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The unemployment rate in San Angelo rose to 3.6% in January 2024, up from 2.9% in December 2023, according to the latest Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) report.

In a month-over-month comparison, the data reveals an increase in the number of unemployed individuals from 1,355 in December 2023 to 1,715 in January 2024. 

Despite the rise in unemployment, the report also shows a slight growth in employment, with 45,747 individuals employed in January, up from 45,718 in the previous month.

The civilian labor force in San Angelo expanded as well, reaching 47,462 in January 2024, compared to 47,073 in December 2023. The increase in both the labor force and employment numbers suggests more people were looking for work in January.

The state’s employment rate held at 3.9% in January.

Perhaps if the old money would see it fit to allow some real jobs to come to San Angelo instead of overpriced fast food establishments the economy would grow .................
