UPDATE: San Angelo Police Release Information on Assault, Robbery Suspect

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Police Department has identified the suspect law enforcement is searching for after a report of an assault and robbery Friday morning.

Police are looking for Julian Gaspar, a 19-year-old man who was listed at 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

If anyone has information on Gaspar's whereabouts, they are being asked to contact police at 325-658-HELP (4357). Tips can be given anonymously.

Police Chief Travis Griffith held a press briefing about 11 a.m. Friday in regards to law enforcement surrounding a house in the 3000 block of Nueces Drive earlier this morning.

Griffith said there was initially a call about an assault and robbery on North Street at about 8:55 a.m. Friday.

Police were able to track the suspect to a house on Nueces Drive, where they surrounded the residence, which is across the street from the San Angelo First Assembly of God church near Kirby Park.

Numerous law enforcement officers were observed around the home with their firearms drawn.

Police entered the home about 10:35 a.m. but left without a suspect in custody.

Griffith said a window in the back of the house was left open, and police believe the suspect was able to escape after police first arrived.

Police have now expanded their search outside the home, which includes a nearby wooded area.

Griffith said police are working with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Public Safety with tactical and drone teams to assist in the search.
