KILLEEN, TX — The Fall 2022 High School Football Season kicked off tonight, Aug. 26, as the San Angelo Central Bobcats traveled down to Killeen and battled the Killeen Shoemaker Greywolves at Leo Buckley Stadium at 7 pm. Senior QB Tyler Hill looked to lead the ‘Cats to a victory in the season opener.
ARLINGTON, TX — The second round of the UIL Texas High School Football Playoffs came to a close tonight, Nov. 20, as the Midland Legacy Rebels (10-1) traveled to Arlington and took on the Southlake Carroll Dragons (11-0) at Globe Life Field at 8 p.m. RB Mikhilyn Young never quite got going on the ground, and the rest of the Rebels’ offense fell flat for much of the game. Southlake Carroll won handily tonight, 42-7.
MIDLAND, TX — In a game that decided the District 2-6A title, the Odessa Permian Panthers (7-2)(4-1) traveled to Grande Communications Stadium in Midland to do battle with the ever dominant Midland Legacy Rebels (8-1)(5-0) Friday night, Nov. 5, at 7 pm.
ABILENE, TX — With a playoff berth already in hand, the San Angelo Central Bobcats (3-6) (2-3) traveled to Shotwell Stadium in Abilene to take on the Abilene High War Eagles (6-3) (4-1) tonight, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. Early turnovers by the Bobcats’ offense in conjunction with Abilene High’s high-octane offense made for an unfortunate combination for playoff-bound ‘Cats as they fall tonight, 49-14.
Although the Bobcats’ defense played incredibly well all game, the offense’s inability to finish drives once inside Permian’s 20-yard line ultimately felled the Bobcats’ chances of a victory. Mojo won it, 21-7.
This Central team is in the midst of a crisis on the defensive side of the ball. Friday night, they had another rough night, although several injuries in key positions, notably Bryson McNutt, made their challenges even more formidable.
