Major Crash Shuts Down U.S. 87 at FM 2105

SAN ANGELO, TX — A major traffic crash closed part of U.S. Highway 87 North at FM 2105 Monday morning. 

The call came in about 6:30 a.m. for a crash in the 6000 block of North Highway 87, near the FM 2105 intersection. 

Emergency dispatch reported entrapment in one of the vehicles and serious injuries. Two ambulances were sent to the scene. 

Photos from the scene show a passenger car and a utility truck that collided with one another, and a motorcycle down in the roadway.

At 8 a.m., the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office issued a Nixle alert:

“Please stay away from the 6000 block of N Hwy 87 near the 2105 intersection due to a major traffic accident. The Volunteer Fire Department and deputies are responding to the scene. Deputies will be redirecting traffic in the area. Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes until the scene has been cleared.”

A portion of the highway was shut down. Traffic was exiting at Chadbourne Street and merging back onto the highway near Apache Trail. 

TxDOT is rerouting traffic. 

Authorities have not released the number of people involved, how many were taken to the hospital, the extent of the injuries, or what caused the crash.
