SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo’s 2024 Consumer Confidence Report revealed that while the city’s water system met most federal and state quality standards, it did experience several minor regulatory violations during the calendar year.
According to the report, levels of trihalomethanes — a disinfection byproduct — exceeded the Environmental Protection Agency’s limits during two periods: July 1 to Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024. Long-term exposure to high levels of trihalomethanes may increase health risks, though the city characterized the exceedances as minor.
The report also identified a delay in lead test result notifications. Some customers were not provided test results within the required 30-day window during the period of Dec. 30, 2024, to Feb. 4, 2025.
In addition, the city was cited for a public notification violation between Sept. 22 and Nov. 21, 2024, when it failed to properly inform the public about a regulatory infraction.
City officials stated that all issues noted in the report have since been resolved by the Water Utilities Department. The full report is available at sanangelo.gov/ccr2025.
