Smith Ronald

04/03/2014 - 12:54 , by johnb

Ronald Wayne Smith, 66, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 29th, 2013. Ron was born November 4, 1947 in Andrews. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1966 and married the love of his life, Judy Carolyn Oyler, on June 20th, 1970 in Colorado City.
Ron was all about his family; everything was done together. He loved and adored his five grandchildren (Emily, Sloan, Brandon, Raegan, and Justin) and would take them to the park, go get ice cream, or simply act silly right along with them at home. It wouldn’t be unusual for one or two of them to be up in his lap at the same time.
He was a very caring and compassionate man by always putting other people first. He volunteered at MHMR of the Concho Valley and handed out candy to the consumers he would visit with; everyone was his friend. He made many friends in Colorado City, Odessa, Monahans and San Angelo by working at the Texas Highway Department, selling gasoline equipment, a convenient store owner, selling cars, and selling real estate. Oh, how he loved selling real estate.

Survivors include his wife Judy Smith, brothers Keith Smith and Kenneth Smith of San Angelo, sister Lynne and John Hill of Colorado City, a favorite cousin Jerry McPherson and Ron’s beloved Hughes family in Florida, son Todd and Sandy Smith of of San Angelo, daughters Shana Smith and Brian Harwell of San Angelo, Mandy Smith and Keith Covey of San Angelo, and special friend Billy Hill of San Angelo, and he is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, his loyal dog, Marcee, and his two miniature donkeys, Lucy and Jenny.
Services will be at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel on Tuesday, April 1st at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Phillips and Pastor Ed Walls of Lifepoint Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 31st at Robert Massie Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ron’s honor to the HCS activities fund at MHMR Services for the Concho Valley.
