Adolph Charles Riemenschneider (A.C.) of Veribest passed away February 1, 2014, at the age of 94 years. Visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Monday February 3, at Johnsons Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be at the Wall Brethren Church with Rev. Tommy Tallas of Wall Brethren Church officiating and Chaplains Nancy York and Robert Janek. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Adolph was born July 1, 1919 in Weesatche, Texas. On October 8, 1940 in Rowena, he married Georgia Holik. They celebrated 55 years together. She preceded him in death in 1996. On November 22, 1997, he married Anita ?eise of Weesatche.
Adolph farmed in the Rowena, Wall and Veribest Communities. He loved the land and to watch the crops grow. He was known to predict the weather and even tried his hand at making it rain. He had a keen interest in water well drilling, a trait passed down to him from his father. During the drought in the 1950's, he purchased a drilling rig and drilled twenty-one wells on his farm only to find a minimal amount of water.
In March 1997, he received the Conservation Farmer Award from the San Angelo Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Tom Green County. He also received the Resident Conservation Farmer award from the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Area II in Texas.
He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and archeology. He was a member of the Concho Valley Archeological Society for thirty years. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing the old country ballads.
He was a member of the Wall Brethren Church where he served on the Board of Elders for many years. He taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. He participated in the building of a new church in 1955 and served as a fellowship hall building committee member.
He served many years on the Veribest School Board, was a member of the PTA and, in 1997, he received the Honorary FFA Chapter Degree from the Veribest FFA.
He is survived by his wife, Anita of Veribest, daughter and husband, Donna and John Krupala of Mansfield, Texas, son and wife, Larry and Jo Riemenschneider of Veribest; four grandchildren and spouses, Laura and Craig Caldwell, Angela and Daniel Farris, Jimmy and Becky Riemenschneider and Krista Roberts; eight grandchildren, Marlee Caldwell, Anthony, Amelia and Daphne Farris, James Riemenschneider, Claire, Amanda and Sarah Roberts.
Also surviving him are two brothers, Leroy and Charles Riemenschneider, and four sisters, Meta Gruetzmacher, Ruby Stearns, Verile Yoast, Virginia Potcinski; four step children and spouses, Joanne and James Semper Sr., Michael Kortz and Karen Arevalos, Brian and Ashley Kortz, and Allan Kortz; six step grandchildren, James Jr. and Jacob Semper, Victoria and Richard Kortz, Emily Kortz and Caylee Kortz; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Craig Caldwell, Daniel Farris, Jimmy Riemenschneider, James Semper Sr., Michael Kortz, Brian Kortz and Allan Kortz
The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for providing excellent loving care. A very special thank you to Debbie, Shirley, Frankie, Becky and Chaplain Nancy York.
